School teacher blues

Grading papers with a belt sander

I gotta say…
grading more than a 150 500-word essays a week,
no matter the quality,
is a bit soul sucking…

  1. Whenever I think about the possibility of entering the teaching profession, the “grading stuff” component always steers my thoughts elsewhere. I admire your fortitude.

    • To be fair, my situation is slightly different in that my classes have no ceiling when it comes to students so I have one class with 90 and one with 75 (the others are a bit more normal). Teaching in the states you’d have fewer students per class.

That said, it’s like writing, unless you love it, there are easier ways to not make a living.
